IVI - ISB is the result of over 15 years of experience in Assisted Reproduction in Spain
This new programme was developed in view of the growing demand for this service in some of our clinics and the lack of a predominantly Hispanic international sperm bank, making it difficult for some patients to obtain the sperm they need to solve their fertility problems. Our clinics have been engaged in these activities in Spain for over 15 years and we are now extending our field of action to provide for reproduction centres worldwide which are in need of this service. Over 600 expert professionals work side by side in our group to share their hard work, know-how and expertise in the field in order to embark upon a project aimed at professional and medical excellence. Our long clinical and scientific history speaks for itself, placing us in a privileged position in the human reproduction field on a worldwide scale. We will be pleased to answer your queries by e-mail in Spanish, English, Italian, French, Flamenco, Dutch, Portuguese and Turkish.
What is sperm donation?Sperm donation is a voluntary, humanitarian and altruistic act in which a healthy male with optimal sperm quality donates his gametes to be used by an authorised reproduction centre in order to achieve pregnancy in women whose partners or themselves suffer from fertility problems or who have no male partner. The donor is paid for his trouble, as contemplated by the Spanish Assisted Reproduction Act and the Spanish Fertility Society. What is a sperm bank?A sperm bank is a service provided by some assisted reproduction groups in which sperm is frozen and stored for subsequent use. It also includes the possibility of arranging for the acceptance of males who wish to donate their gametes to help couples or women who, for whatever reason, need them in order to be able to have children. When is the use of donor sperm necessary?
Who donates sperm?Sperm donors are young and healthy volunteers who regularly donate sperm for use in reproductive treatments in the above cases. They are subjected to strict medical controls to prevent transmitting genetic or infectious conditions to the women using the samples or their children. What is the IVI International Sperm Bank?It is a service provided by the IVI Team in which reproduction clinics from the world over, and their patients, can import donor sperm from our centres in Spain ( IVI Valencia, IVI Madrid, IVI Murcia, IVI Bilbao and IVI Seville) and shortly from our centre in Mexico (IVI Mexico), in order to maintain a stock of sperm with which to apply treatments in which medical and biological quality and safety are guaranteed. This new service is the result of over 15 years of experience in Assisted Reproduction in Spain and more than 12 successful years of the Sperm Bank. Thanks to these activities, over 3,000 children have been born to date. We have all the pertinent licenses and permits and a team of over 600 professionals in our different centres, each with his or her own field of expertise, but all of them working side by side to develop this new activity. Doctors, biologists, pharmacists, biochemists, psychologists and geneticists specialising in human reproduction, many of them with great expertise and international renown, are directly or indirectly involved in this programme. Their success is evident from the large number of new Assisted Reproduction Centres (a total of twelve). Their expertise in sperm and egg donation and infertility is also patent from their attendance at multiple congresses and publications in international scientific journals. In recent years, they have also become a point of reference for the media. Our group is known worldwide, with many professionals in other centres having trained with us as we grew, thanks to our range of postgraduate and other courses. All sperm samples meet the strictest international standards with regards to quality and medical and biological safety, based on thorough safety, sperm identity and donor controls. If you are in Europe, Central or South America , we are an obvious choice. No other provider of this service has such a large list of donors of Hispanic phenotypes and comprehensive Spanish-speaking customer care. If you are elsewhere, our quality is comparable to the best you fill find and the associated costs are similar or even lower. Although not officially organised as such, the IVI International Sperm Bank existed previously as we have occasionally sent donor sperm to dozens of centres in over 20 countries. Indeed, this is what encouraged us to create this worldwide service. |
